The Madrone Equestrian Guild is proud to announce two concurrent classes on Saturday, May 3: !!!Caparison Draping
Taught by Annisa Gabrielli
->Come learn how to make a full-coverage fabric garment for any horse. This type of garment is appropriate for tournaments from the 12th through the 16th centuries, and is an ideal foundation for impressive displays of heraldry. There will be a demonstration of draping material directly on the animal for a custom fit, and transferring that information to a paper pattern. A variety of different styles will be discussed. Also covered will be examining period reference materials to determine fabric choice, shape and construction methods. The same principles of draping may also be applied to human clothing. !!!Silk Banner Painting
Taught by Guillaume de Garrigues
->Nothing flies like silk. Learn the basics of painting silk heraldic banners using a gutta resist. It's a modern technique, but it's a quick and relatively easy way to get your heraldic device flapping in the wind, adding pageantry to your encampment and to your presence on the field. Class includes instruction, demonstration of techniques, and all materials needed for making a triangular banner of approximately six feet in length. Class size is limited, please pre-register by sending e-mail to guillaume@garrigues.net Date: ->Saturday, May 3, 2008 Time: ->10:00 a.m. both classes begin ->4:00 p.m. finish (approximate) -> Please bring a sack lunch Location: ->6301 308th Avenue SE ->Preston, WA 98033 -> map Past ClassesSaturday, April 12, 2008 - Strap BardingSubject: Come learn how to make strap barding in leather or cloth to fit your horse Saturday, February 9, 2008 - Trail Riding & Road Safety Part 1Subject: Riding & Road Safety based on the British Horse Society's Training November 11, 2007 - Renaissance Warfare in Theory and PracticeTaught by Gordon Frye, a director of the School of the Renaissance Soldier'' Thursday, August 9, 2007 - To Drape a CaparisonTaught by HL Annisa with assistance from Mistress Kerij-e Thursday, August 16, 2007 - To Arm for TournamentTaught by Viscount Rapheal with assistance from other guild members At September Crown (Sunday 4 p.m. in the "great hall") - To Create a BannerHere are the details for the banner painting class at September Crown offered by the Madrone Equestrian Guild in preparation for the Emprise of the Black Lion VII.
