Recommended constructionSimple cotton canvas banners measuring approximately 24" x 36", painted with your heraldic device. A good source for these is Dharma Trading Co., which sells pre-made banner blanks. For an extra nice touch, put the pole pocket on the long side (rather than the top) of the banner. You should paint both sides of your banner. Inexpensive acrylic craft paint works perfectly well for this (or you can delve into Cennini's handbook for more period recipes!). Also, remember that the event will be providing brackets and poles for displaying your banner above your stall, so all you have to bring is a banner. Why two banners for equestrians?Because it takes a ladder to put your banner up and down above the stall, and you'll want a banner for your herald to carry on the field. ![]()
